The National Film Institute of Hungary (NFI) is presenting György Kovásznai’s recently restored animation cult film Bubble Bath (Habfürdő.) The online premiere will be free-to-view worldwide with English and French subtitles on the NFI’s YouTube channel at 7pm CEST on 15 May (György Kovásznai’s birthday) and there is a repeat screening the next day, similarly at 7pm. Bubble Bath will be back in Hungarian cinemas from June 2021 and will soon be available for streaming via www.filmio.hu (alongside Kovasznai's short films.)
The 4K restoration of Bubble Bath has been made possible by “A Season of Classic Films” - an initiative of ACE (Association des Cinémathèques Européennes) with the financial support of Creative Europe. The aim of this program is to facilitate the digital restoration of the gems of European film art and to draw attention to the work of European film archives (through free online screenings.) 22 European institutions are involved, connecting the public with cinema history and with the preservation of film heritage.
